Monster in HIs Eyes by J.M. Darhower

Wow. It has been a while since I have been truly unable to put a book down. I finished it in 2 days! It was sexual, gritty and fast paced!

Karissa, the heroine of the novel, is a college student who believes her father abandoned her and her mother when her mother was pregnant, her mother tried to protect her daughter by coming off as paranoid with a possible mental illness however, she was really indirectly protecting her child from the life her mother and father had. Then ‘Naz’ comes into Karissa’s life and she very quickly she realizes her life has been based around lives, she lacked a childhood home because of those lies and now she is conflicted as she comes to see that her life is full of liars.

I liked Karissa, however, she seemed dumber than I would have expected but at the same time it made her character more believable because she grew up in a sheltered world, always moving, never settling down with her mother always breathing down her neck. What I didn’t find believable was the fact that she jumped straight into a very serious relationship with no way out with a man that she didn’t really know anything about.

The story was well written and the characters well developed. I honestly can’t wait for the second part of the book to come out.

Happy Reading!
