This book was more about Tris and Tobias’s relationship and the struggles they have with a battle of wills and a sense of what is right and wrong. Tris struggles with the darkness threatening to overtake her at the loss of a dear friend at her own hands. In the previous book Divergent, Tris looses practically everybody that she cares about and that leads her to want to just give up and to die feeling that death would atone for her actions and the deaths that she feels are on her hands even if she had no control over them.
This was another quick read for me. I enjoyed seeing how Tris and Tobias develop as a couple and the struggles they encounter throughout the book. The chaos that befalls the factions as they are forced to choose sides, each fighting for what they believe is right no matter how twisted their thoughts and reasons may be. From Jeanine craving the power and control of keeping the people in the city in the dark to Evelyn wanting to destroy all factions but still keep everybody in the city where she can keep control over them.
I would recommend this book to readers of all ages and so far as a whole I would recommend the series. I just started the third and last book last night so I should hopefully have a book review up for that shortly!
So when this book went up as book of the month for the book club I am in, I swore up and down I would not participate that month because I had no interest in it, at this point I can honestly say I don’t even remember the reason behind that was.
A few months ago I watched the movie…from the start to the finish I had decided then that I just had to read the book. So long story short I bought all three books. I finished reading Divergent in just 3 days! I haven’t read a traditional paper book that fast in 3 years! (Since giving birth to my first daughter)
Veronica Roth takes you on an adventure in a distopian world where there are factions and if you don’t fit in with one then you have to live factionless. What may have been a genuine attempt at forming a society of peace is poisoned by greed and lust for power. Power over everything and everyone, even if it means stripping everybody of their own free will. Only problem these power hungry people face….the Divergent. Those whose brains cannot conform to the way of any one faction and are thought of as dangerous because of it. They are the scary stories told to by parents to their children to make them fear the unknown.
I absolutely loved this book, it was fast paced and kept the reader wanting more. Especially as the romance between Tris and Four ignites. I am on book two of the story now and am almost finished with that!
I would recommend this book to readers of all ages that love stepping into new worlds and going on adventures!
I came across this book on the onlinebookclub.org site as the book of the month for April and decided that it sounded pretty interesting. I read the book in 3 days! I enjoyed it A LOT! Samantha has one heck of an imagination to come up with the dystopian world that she did. After I finished reading the book, I decided to check out some reviews. I read that the book was given a lot of hype about the author being the next J.K.Rowling. With that remark it led readers to look for similarities between this book and future books to come and the Harry Potter Series, which led to reviews coming from both sides of the fence. Either the readers love it or they hate it.
There was a lot of information given, mostly on Paige Mahoney, the main character of the book, She is a clairvoyant who is called a dreamwalker. A lot of reviews commented with information dumping and the book was too long, in my personal opinion, the layout was just right, and the information was very much needed. Also mention of the world the Rephiam come from, complaints about there not being enough information. There was enough to gather that they are basically the aether incarnate…and there are 6 more books supposedly following this one so I am sure there will be more information to follow.
Great book, highly recommend it to all the readers out there. There was a perfect balance throughout the book, action, information, strategy and even the stirrings of a romance. I can’t wait to read the next book! Happy Reading!
